Passenger numbers strong at Pierre Regional Airport

PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – Passenger numbers at the Pierre Regional Airport continue to be strong under the guidance of SkyWest Airlines operating as United Express. Airport Liaison to the Pierre City Commission Jamie Huizenga says enplanements continue to impress.

Huizenga says if passenger trends continue the city should easily surpass 10,000 enplanements which opens the door for federal money for airport improvements.

Officials from SkyWest, United Express and Denver International Airport were in Pierre last week to meet with local and state officials about programs offered, especially to businesses to use the airline. Huizenga used the time to tell the officials to make plans for the upcoming pheasant season.

June enplanements were the ninth highest all-time at Pierre Regional Airport since 1981.
