Residential pheasant hunting starts Saturday

ABERDEEN, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The residential pheasant hunting opener takes place on Saturday, Oct. 12. The non-resident (or regular) opener is a week from Saturday, Oct. 19.

Nick Cochran, Conservation Officer with the Game, Fish and Parks, said that this weekend’s hunting is only allowed on public-owned land.

Hunting is allowed from Noon to sunset Oct. 12-14. The non-resident hunting has the same hours from Oct. 19-25. Starting Saturday, Oct. 26, hunting can begin at 10 a.m. There is a three rooster limit.

Cochran said that hunters should have plenty of birds to shoot this fall.

Of course, hunter safety is always a priority and Cochran said the unharvested fields will play a role in that this fall.
