Smithfield Foods continues to invest in outdated plant

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WNAX) – Even though much of the plant dates to the early 1900s, Smithfield Foods is making a big investment into their Sioux Falls facility.

Smithfield President and C.E.O. Ken Sullivan spoke to the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce and Industry Economic Outlook meeting last week and said they continue to make improvements.

Sullivan says they support an outdated plant for a specific reason.

Sullivan says the labor force is worth the costs.

Sullivan says the workforce comes from “dozens and dozens of countries,” but is one of the best they have.
