Texas man found not guilty of second-degree manslaughter in death of Sioux Falls man

MITCHELL, S.D. (KMIT) – A Texas man involved in a two-vehicle crash on I-90 near Alexandria in September which left a man dead was found not guilty of second-degree manslaughter. 32-year old Jason Ingram of Kempner, Texas was found guilty of three misdemeanor charges – reckless driving, operating an oversized vehicle, and driving without a commercial driver’s license.

Ingram was driving a tractor-trailer when he was rear-ended by a Dodge Caravan driven by 52-year old Johnnie Hines of Sioux Falls. Hines was pronounced dead at the scene. Prosecutors say Ingram was driving well below the 40 mile-an-hour minimum speed limit on the interstate. Ingram was given just over a year in suspended jail time.
