Thune says current budget short-term fix

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – The Congressional Budget Office estimates the federal deficit for the current budget year is over $740 billion, up over 23 percent from last year and may end up over a trillion dollars by the end of the fiscal year in September.

South Dakota Senator John Thune says Congress can only easily control part of federal spending.

Thune says they will eventually have to do something about spending and the deficit.

Thune says the current budget is only a short term fix.

This year’s budget deal raises spending by over $320 billion and moves the debt limit two years down the road.
