ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubcityRadio)- Pipeline bills have been one of the main focuse of the 2024’s South Dakota Legislative session. SDBA’s Austin Goss appeared on the KSDN Midday Report to provide an update on SB201 which for now would allow the South Dakota PUC to override county’s ability to do setbacks for these pipelines.
Goss addressed the emergency clause that was originally in the bill to begin with.
Goss explains the difference between the Senate & the House version of SB201.
Goss discuss the amendment dealing with the $1 per foot that Summit Carbon Solution would have to pay to place the pipelines in the county.
Goss acknowledged that despite this additional fee, that Summit is a reluctant supporter bill but like to see some changes done to the bill.
Earlier this week, Austin had an opportunity to interview Governor Noem and asked her about her position on SB201.
Next step on SB201 is a joint conference committee of six people(3 from each chamber with two Republicans & one Democrat from each chamber.
The final day of main run of the session is Thursday, March 7th.
