ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Friday, Aberdeen businessman Jim Thares released a comments in response to Toby Doeden’s take on the Aberdeen City Council passing the first reading of a BID Tax increase. The rate would go up from four to six cents per square foot with $25,000 coming from the city.
Thares talks about his stance on this projected increase.
Thares, who’s a former member of the South Dakota Board of Regents, compares this to what happen at Northern State. In his statement he mentioned how close the SD Legislature was to closing down NSU. Thares explains more about that.
Thares talks about the Doeden group had an opportunity to express his opinions at some of the Aberdeen Downtown Association meetings.
Thares believes money invested in downtown Aberdeen will only help move the city forward.
Second reading on the ordinance to raise the BID District tax is planned for Monday, August 19th.
