SOUTH DAKOTA(KCCR)- The 3rd annual 437 Project begins Thursday on the South Dakota/Wyoming border. The 437 Project will lead 12 runners across South Dakota raising awareness and funds for the Helpline Center and 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Lexie Warejcka of Platte says she’s running to represent rural South Dakota.
A brief stop on the nearly 450 mile trek across South Dakota is Friday in Pierre. Jessica Rumpca is running from Pierre and wants to the bring the run home.
Rumpca and Warejcka will be alone with their thoughts during much of the run.
Rumpca is ready for the experience of sharing a run across South Dakota.
Lexi Warejcka of Platte is one of the 12 runners and says they are just a small part of the massive group that makes the effort possible.
Warejcka says the running is easy compared having conversations with those impacted by suicide.
Jessica Rumpca of Pierre is also running on the Project. A goal for her was to get Pierre more involved in support for the 437 Project and thinks the support has improved.
The 437 Project is September 19th to the 22nd.
