Prison Task Force to meet on April 29th

PIERRE, S.D.(KWAT)- The task force that’s looking for a solution to replace the aging South Dakota Penitentiary meets again on April 29th.

The April 29th meeting will be held at the Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield.

Task Force Chairman and Lieutenant Governor Tony Venhuizen.

The Mike Durfee State Prison began accepting inmates forty years ago on the former USD-Springfield campus following its closure.

The task force makes its recommendations to the South Dakota Legislature at a special session in July.
