SiOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- An arrest effort ended in gunfire in Sioux Falls late Monday.
Police were attempting to arrest the suspect(24-year-old Deondre Gene Blackhawk), who was wanted on several warrants…including a deadly shooting.

When police were serving the arrest warrant, Blackhawk produced a gun, and several officers opened fire on him.
He’s being treated for his injuries at a local hospital.
Sioux Falls have now turned it over to the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.
South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announces the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), at the request of Sioux Falls Police Department, is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred Monday night.
“The Attorney General’s Office and DCI take officer involved shootings seriously, and we will do a thorough and impartial investigation into this incident,” said Attorney General Jackley. “We will share with the public the results of the investigation once it is completed.”
This is the fifth Officer Involved Shooting in South Dakota this year.
