BROOKINGS, S.D.(KBRK)- Gov. Larry Rhoden made a campaign stop in Brookings Monday. He and Aberdeen businessman Toby Doeden are seeking the Republican nomination in next week’s runoff primary election.

Rhoden said the recently announced $69 million state budget surplus proves South Dakota’s economy is improving.

During the last legislative session, Rhoden pushed for a law giving counties the option to lower property taxes — something he’s pleased to see being implemented.

Rhoden urges voters to look at his record.

During a campaign stop Rhoden lashed out at challenger Toby Doeden’s proposal to eliminate South Dakota’s property tax.

Rhoden accused his opponent of flip-flopping on his own property tax plan.

Both candidates are seeking the GOP nomination for governor in next week’s primary runoff election.
