ABERDEEN, S.D.(Hub City Radio)- The Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Connections Series continued Thursday at the K.O.Lee Public Library.

Feature speaker was Alton Vilhauer of Aberdeen Step Up Ministries.  He’ll provided an update on what’s happening with them.

Vilhauer talked about some of the issues facing those who either have been previously incarcerated or homeless.

Vilhauer discussed barriers that they face.

Vilhauer informed the audience they look to try to teach responsibility to those living in their homes.

Vilhauer introduced an individual who has been assisted by them and now looking to relay these messages to others dealing with similar situations.  He asked us to keep that named anonymous.  He was a former drug addict and spent multiple trips in prison.

This person moved from California to South Dakota.  He started by talking about why he left the state.

He eventually ran out of gas near Aberdeen and talked about Step Up Ministries assisted his life.

He also discussed how he took responsibility to recover his life.
