ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release) – Alumni of the 2023 Leadership Aberdeen Class, along with the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce, Aberdeen Downtown Association and the Aberdeen Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, will be kicking off the 2nd Annual Aberdeen Burger Battle on April 1st. There will be sixteen participating restaurants this year, up from ten in 2023.
Eateries and their burgers include:

- City Lights Bar & Event Center – Buffalo Strip Burger
- Danger von Dempsey’s Pizza + Brewhaus – Onion Bier Burger
- Lager’s Inn – Cajun Melt
- Maverick’s Steak & Cocktails – Smokehouse Burger
- Minerva’s – The Millionaire
- Mulligan’s Sports Bar & Casino – Stuffed Jalapeno Popper Burger
- Pounder’s – County Fair Burger
- Red Rooster Coffee House – Mac Bean Burger
- Richmond Oasis – Pretzel Pub Burger
- Schwan’s Recreation – Pastrami Burger
- Scotty’s Diner – The Big Rebel
- The Market on the Plaza – SD Jucy Lucy
- The Zoo Bar – Double Smash Burger
- Three22 Kitchen + Cocktails (the defending champion!) – Birria Smash Burger
Burger connoisseurs will be able to visit participating restaurants and rate each of the burgers they try. Burger details and voting can be found online at www.aberdeenburgerbattle.com. Ultimately the burger with the highest overall rating will be unveiled and celebrated on Thursday, May 9th at 5:00 pm as part of the Chamber’s Business After Hours Mixer at IDC (Interior Design Concepts).
The driving mission behind the Battle was to raise awareness of food insecurity in the community. Proceeds from the month-long event will benefit the Salvation Army of Aberdeen, which facilitates food insecurity programs in our community. The voting website will also provide information about the Salvation Army, its mission to fight hunger, and will provide a format for local participants to contribute to the cause.
