ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release)- Join us for the opening of the Zonta 1976 Time Capsule. This will serve as the official kickoff to Aberdeen’s America 250 celebration, launching a year of community pride, reflection, and patriotism. Hosted in partnership with the Dacotah Prairie Museum.

Speakers will include Museum Director Patricia Kendall, Mayor Travis Schaunaman, City Manager Dave McNeil, Brown County Commissioner Mike Wiese, and retired educator Stephen Bakken.

the event will include live music, a color guard ceremony, and ice cream and food trucks for families to enjoy. As part of the nationwide commemoration led by the United States Semiquincentennial Commission, the ceremony will honor the vision of those who preserved this piece of 1976 history while celebrating Aberdeen’s enduring role in the American story. Museum staff will be on hand to assist in the time capsule content claim process.
