2023 Aberdeen Area Pride Festival coming up June 2nd-4th

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The 3rd annual Aberdeen Area Pride Festival will be taking place the weekend of June 2nd-4th in Aberdeen.

John Schwab, Aberdeen Area Pride President, offered up a preview of this event.

June is Pride Month & Schwab explains how this came about.

South Dakota legislature passed HB1080 which prevents transgender care for those under the age of 18.  Schwab felt the legislators were misinformed.

Schwab comments on how much support the city has given to LGBTQ.

The festival begins on Friday June 2nd with an art show.

On Saturday will be the walk starting at 1PM at Aldrich Park.  Schwab talks what the theme of the walk will be this year.

The biggest controversy for the festival are the upcoming drag shows.  2 of the 3 shows are only for those above the age of 18.  The first drag show which is for the general public will be Saturday at 3pm at the Red Rooster.  Schwab explains why this show is appropriate for people of all ages.
