PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- Preparations continue for the 2023 Inaugural celebrations to be held in and around Pierre. Matt and Kim Brakke are co-chairs of the Inaugural Committee with Matt and Stephanie Judson and and requested the use of alcohol at the Capitol Building and Capitol Lake Visitor Center.
Tickets remain available for two balls to be held Saturday evening at the Capitol and Ramkota in Pierre.
This is the first inauguration to be held in the State Capitol Building since enhanced security measures have been added to the North Entrance of the Capitol. Kim Brakke says those planning to see the inaugural activities should plan according and pack light.
Electronic ticketing is also new and could impact entry to the Capitol.
Events start at 11am on Saturday with legislative oaths and executive oaths at noon in the Rotunda. A receiving line will be set up on the first floor at 1:30pm. The Capitol Ball begins at six-pm with the Grand March at 7:30pm. The Inaugural Ball is at eight-pm in the Ramkota with doors opening at seven. The Inaugural Grand March is at 9:30pm.
