PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – South Dakota Public Utilities Commission Chairman Gary Hanson says he will run for re-election this fall.
Hanson, a republican, is now serving his third – six year term on the commission.
He says his interest in utilities and energy started from his time as Mayor of Sioux Falls.
Hanson says he took some time to make his decision.
Hanson says he is concerned about energy costs being controlled by more regional and national interests.
Besides serving two terms as Sioux Falls Mayor, Hanson also served three terms in the state Senate.
