STURGIS, S.D.(KBHB) – The 83rd Sturgis Motorcycle Rally doesn’t officially start until Friday, but the first sponsored ride of the year was held Wednesday as Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vandewater hosted the 2nd Annual Chief’s Ride.
In its second year, Vandewater hopes to build on the success of last year’s ride.
Vandewater discusses the Police Athletic League or PAL for short.
Proceeds from the ride benefit PAL and the Sturgis Animal Shelter.
This year’s ride departed from the Sturgis Community Center and stopped at various designated spots around the Black Hills.
