RAPID CITY, S.D.(KOTA)- Eyes in the sky and boots on the ground ended a pursuit in Rapid City Wednesday morning, which led to the arrests of three armed individuals.
Brendyn Medina, spokesperson for the Rapid City Police Department, said it was a non-RCPD affiliated helicopter that potentially shaved hours off the manhunt.
Medina said the pursuit was terminated for safety purposes as the suspects went off-road, where multiple firearms were found on-scene.
The Pennington County Special Response Team, a local SWAT equivalent, enclosed the suspects and cut them off with help from above.
RCPD Chief Don Hedrick said RCPD remains extremely thankful to Black Hills Helicopters, the owners of the chartered helicopter that made the difference in this search.
