PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- A 33 year old man from Madison, SD, was arrested after a brief, slow speed pursuit in Pierre Sunday evening.
Information from the Pierre Police Department says Patrol Officers were dispatched to a complaint of a possible intoxicated driver near the intersection of Pierre Street and Sioux Avenue. The report said the driver was swerving and tailgating vehicles.
Officers located the vehicle near the intersection of Capitol Avenue and Ash Street and attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Justin Olson, did not stop the vehicle despite having multiple officers following him with emergency lights and sirens activated. Olson continued driving at slow speeds, making multiple turns and running a stop sign. Olson eventually stopped his vehicle near the intersection of Oneida Avenue and Pleasant Drive.
Olson was arrested and taken to the Hughes County Jail in Pierre. He’s charged with driving while suspended, DUI 2nd offense, eluding, failure to maintain financial responsibility, failure to use seat belts, open container in a motor vehicle, stop sign violation, and unsafe lane change.
