4th Annual Medicine Wheel held Sunday

STURGIS, S.D. – The Fourth Annual Medicine Wheel was held Sunday, departing from Bear Butte State Park en-route to a final destination of Crazy Horse Memorial.

The ride is held to bring attention to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women initiative.

Connie Brushbreaker is Head of Volunteers, and says those on the ride included families and friends of the missing and murdered along with others who wanted to show support.

According to the Crime Information Center, more than 5,000 cases of missing Indigenous women and girls were reported in 2020.

As the ride made it’s way to Crazy Horse Memorial, Law Enforcement from around the area escorted the group.

At the memorial, organizers and riders gathered for a viewing of the new documentary about the Medicine Wheel Ride titled “We Ride For Her.”
