SD Dept of Health reports 2 new COVID-19 related deaths & reports 1st Delta Variant in Edmunds County

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,035. The state had 16 new cases including the 1st Delta Variant of COVID-19 in Edmunds County and 11 recoveries, increasing active infections to 148. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 19.

So far, South Dakota has had 124,536 cases and 122,353 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 1 new case and no recoveries. The county currently has 9 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,644 cases and 5,540 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 31,758 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,940, and Lincoln County with 8,722, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,655, Brookings with 4,236, Davison with 3,252, Yankton with 3,114, and Lawrence with 3,012.

Statewide 367,140 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 56% of the state) with 345,302 completing vaccination(over 52% of the state). Brown County has 17,520 receiving at least one shot & 16,706 completing vaccination.
