PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- Despite the weather, cattle producers from across South Dakota are gathering in Pierre for the 74th annual South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association Convention and Trade Show.
President Eric Jennings raises cattle in the northern Black Hills, near the Wyoming border. He says policy development is a major piece of the convention.
He says this year’s convention topics center around technology.
Jennings says paying for a membership in an agriculture advocacy organization helps support the industry, even when individual producers may not have the time to be active members.
The convention wraps up Tuesday with the Cattlemen’s Banquet and Leopold Conservation Award presentation, followed by the President’s Auction and local entertainment.
