Farm bill likely to not be done by end of September

BROOKINGS, S.D.(KJJQ)- The new farm bill is supposed to be completed by the end of September. That is not going to happen.

South Dakota Senator John Thune serves on the Ag Committee and says they’re ready to move on the bill.

Representative Dusty Johnson serves on the House Ag Committee.

Thune says most programs will continue.

Both men say Congress is also dealing with a number of other issues including the possible government shutdown.
