ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen City Council on Monday discussed replacing the railroad lights & tracking arms for the location on Melgaard Road & 5th Street.
Public Works Director Stu Nelson told the council that the current lights there have run its course.
Nelson explains that there are things the city has to work on prior to this.
Nelson explains that they may be allow to do a silent crossing but that would mean blocking off 5th Street for those going east on Melgaard Road.
The City is working in conjunction with the South Dakota Department of Transportation on this project. The installation is not scheduled to begin until 2024.
