WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG} According to a story by the Dakota Scout, “Lawyers for Sen. Julie Frye-Mueller are asking the South Dakota Supreme Court to intervene on her behalf, arguing her Senate colleagues are depriving her of her full rights as a senator.”
On January 26, 2023, the South Dakota Senate voted to suspend Senator Julie Frye-Mueller of District 30 of the Black Hills area, which included revoking her voting and floor privileges and shutting down her legislative email account for allegations she acted or spoke inappropriately to a female staffer.
South Dakota Senator President Pro Tempore Lee Schoenbeck was in KXLG studios to talk more. He says in that position, he has had to deal with many issues.
Senator Schoenbeck says she should just apologize.
Senator Schoenbeck talks about the difficulty of understanding the lawsuit.
The Dakota Scout further reports: “In multiple filings with the court, Frye-Mueller’s lawyers also argue that the residents of District 30, the Black Hills district she represents, are being deprived of their full representation in the Legislature. Besides naming Frye-Mueller as a plaintiff, the filings name three residents of District 30 as plaintiffs.”
It was reported that the filings were made on December 22, 2023.
