PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Monday, the South Dakota House Judiciary Committee heard about HB1116.  HB1116 make fraudulent solicitation of charitable contributions a deceptive act or practice.

The prime sponsor was District 23 Representative J.D. Wangsness from Miller. Wangsness explains why this bill was needed.

Wangsness gave examples of fraudulent example happening across the countries.  One example is the issue of veterans care.

The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office offered their support for the bill.  The bill was approved by the committee on a 12-0 vote.  The bill now moves on to the full House for further considerations.
