PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) – U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin (ma-new-shin) said in an interview (on CNBC) last week that he supported the Justice Department looking into Amazon because the tech giant has “destroyed the retail industry.”

South Dakota Retailers Association Executive Director Nathan Sanderson says that is a pretty dramatic statement.

Sanderson says the vast majority of retail purchases are still made from a physical store.

Sanderson says while sales at malls and big box stores may be falling, a more traditional location is seeing a revival.

Sanderson says they continue to work with their members to adapt to the changing retail environment.
