SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO)- Standing in the middle of a busy street isn’t safe…even if you’re standing on a median.

With that in mind, Sioux Falls City Councilors are taking steps to end the practice.

Councilor Curt Soehl (SAIL) says it’s all about safety.

They approved first reading of a new ordinance Tuesday night to ban pedestrians from being on the medians.
