BROOKINGS, S.D. (KJJQ) – Brookings police are investigating the death of a toddler.

Assistant Chief Derrick Powers says an ambulance was called to the 900 block of Seventh Street shortly before 4 o’clock Wednesday afternoon for an unresponsive child.

Police and the ambulance responded to the scene but the three-year-old child was deceased when they arrived.

Powers says the matter is under investigation.

No other information is being released.
