A 77-year-old man died in a wreck in Spink County on Tuesday, May 7.
The two-vehicle crash was at 4:48 p.m. on State Highway 20 near mile marker 390, according to a news release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. That’s about 9 miles southwest of Conde.
The names of the people involved have not yet been released pending notification of family.
Preliminary crash information indicates the man who died was driving a 2021 CanAm Defender utility task vehicle that turned in front of a westbound 1996 Peterbilt Conventional 379 semi.
“The truck struck the UTV, forcing it into the ditch where it rolled. The driver of the UTV died from his injuries,” according to the release.
He was not wearing a seatbelt, per the release.
The driver of the truck, a 60-year-old man, was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt, according to the release.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
