Records Fall & Champs Crowned For NSU T&F

Mankato, MN (NSUWolves.com) [Day 2 of 3] – Northern State University track and field teams sit in seventh for the men with 20 points and seventh for the women with 16 points after the first full day of the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Cassidy GoughMegan PickeringBirnir Vagn Finnsson, and Eli Radtke tallied All-Conference honors and multiple Wolves qualified for day two.

MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Birnir Vagn Finnsson finished in second place with All-Conference honors in the decathlon with 6,515 points and marks of 11.24 in the 100m, 6.91m in long jump, 11.11n in shot put, 1.84m in high jump, 51.53 in the 400m, 15.69 in the 110m hurdles, 33.18m in discus throw, 4.27m in pole vault, 45.24m in javelin, and 5:19.75 in the 1500m
  • Sean Juengst placed ninth with 5,494 points and marks of 12.46 in the 100m, 5.94m in long jump, 10.15m in shot put, 1.78m in high jump, 54.79 in the 400m, 18.04 in the 110m hurdles, 31.40m in discus throw, 3.77m in pole vault, 45.87m in javelin, and 5:01.53 in the 1500m
  • Eli Radtke recorded an All-Conference mark of 4.47m with a third place finish in pole vault
  • Noah Ford and Isaac Ligon placed sixth and eighth in pole vault with marks of 4.47m and 4.32m
  • Treyson Schulz took tenth place in long jump with a distance of 7.21m
  • Nick Olson threw a mark of 55.39m in the hammer throw taking sixth place
  • Chris Weber and Noah Bayer qualified for finals in the 100m with the same time of 10.53
  • Joel Matehs qualified for finals with a time of 14.62 in the 110m hurdles
  • Both Drew Salfrank and Seth Martens will compete in the finals of the 400m with qualifying times of 48.93 and 49.22
  • Drew Henriksen moves on to finals in the 400m with a prelim time of 55.35
  • Josh Martin qualified for finals in the 1500m finishing with a time of 4:01.94

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Morgan Sheldon took ninth place in the heptathlon with 4,514 points and marks of 15.28 in the 100m hurdles, 1.56m in high jump, 10.56m in shot put, 27.35 in the 200m, 5.18m in long jump, 31.54m in javelin, and 2:32.99 in the 800m
  • Cassidy Gough was the NSIC champion in the hammer throw with a mark of 54.33m
  • Megan Pickering had an All-Conference performance in the 10,000m long distance event, taking third place in a time of 38:31.49
  • Renea Taylor moves on to finals in three events the 100m dash, the 100m hurdles, and 400m hurdles with qualifying times of 11.70, 14.38, and 1:02.89

Mankato, MN (NSUWolves.com) [Day 3 of 3] – Northern State University track and field teams wrapped up the NSIC Outdoor Championships with three all-conference finishes and two new school records. Northern recorded a third place finish for the men, the highest since 2009, with 73 points and a seventh place finish for the women with 38 points.

MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Carson Barnett threw the winning mark of 62.75m for the title of NSIC champion in the javelin throw
  • Levi Reis followed with an All-Conference performance of second place and a mark of 62.07m in javelin
  • Damon Roggenbuck rounded out the javelin squad with a fifth place podium finish and a mark of 57.34m
  • Seth Martens and Drew Salfrank took podium in the 400m with fifth and sixth place finishes and times of 48.21 and 48.22
  • Chris Weber and Noah Bayer had fourth and seventh place performances in the 100m dash with times of 10.56 and 10.71
  • Drew Henriksen took seventh place in the 400m hurdles in a time of 54.22
  • Joel Matehs placed seventh in the 110m hurdles finishing with a time of 14.60
  • Josh Martin took eighth place in the 1500m finals with a time of 3:55.87

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Renea Taylor captured an All-Conference performance in the 400m hurdles placing third in a time of 1:01.53
  • Taylor followed that performance placing eighth in both the 100m hurdles and 100m dash clocking times of 14.08 and 11.91
  • Bekah Walz finished in sixth place with a height of 3.51m in pole vault
  • Megan Pickering took to the podium for eighth place in the 5,000m with a time of 17:41.01
  • Women’s 4×100 relay placed fourth with members Elisabet Osk JonsdottirRenea TaylorVanessa Christensen, and Kyanna Collymore in a time of 47.64
  • Woman’s 4x400m relay also took fourth place with athletes Kyanna CollymoreSummer CarlsonAlli Jackson, and Renea Taylor in a time of 3:54.01

BEYOND THE RESULTS

  • Carson Barnett set a new school record in the javelin that was previously held by Levi Reis from the USD Early Bird meet
  • The men’s 4 x 100m relay broke the school record previously held by Joel Matehs, Luke Schroeder, Isaac Olson, and Seth Martens from 2022
