Bankers in Mid-America region express concerns about economy in the region

OMAHA, N.E.(KELO)- For the first time in nearly four and a half years, regional farm land prices dropped last month.

Creighton University’s Rural Mainstreet Index also shows a decline in the overall regional economy.

The Index is a survey of small community bankers across a ten-state region.

Economist, Dr. Ernie Goss says warning signs are coming from several directions.

Cash rent prices are also down…another indicator that the farm economy is getting tougher.

Goss says one of the main causes comes from overseas.
