Rohrbach Returns To Coach Knights Boys Hoops

ABERDEEN, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – The Aberdeen Christian Knights have their new head boys basketball coach and it’s a familiar face.

Matt Rohrbach will be making a return trip to the sidelines, where he roamed in the 2022-2023 season; a season in which the Knights went to the state B tournament and placed third, where they defeated White River in an instant classic.

Rohrbach remembers that season & tournament run quite fondly, “I remember when we were starting to get recognized a few years ago and when my brothers team finally broke though and made it the state tournament all the hard work and pain finally became worth it,” Rohrbach said. He continued, “What followed was equally as important, we finally had a brand and a program people wanted to be a part of. Now the goal is to relive that past but with new players who haven’t yet tasted that special feeling. I’m excited to be a part of it once again.”

After the 2022-2023 season, Rohrbach served as an assistant men’s basketball coach for the Jimmies of the University of Jamestown. Last season the Jimmies went 17-12 & 12-8 in the GPAC. Rohrbach also coached one of his former Knight players, Malek Wieker, who was a freshman last year.

Not only will Rohrbach take over as the head coach of the boys basketball program, but he’ll also have the athletic director duties & title. Having said that, the current athletic director, Steve Gast will still remain at Aberdeen Christian School in other (working) capacities.

Matt Rohrbach will join David Tukesbrey & Matt McClure on “The Sports Hub” on Thursday (5/23) at 10:15a on Fox Sports Aberdeen 1420AM & 98.5FM & live streaming with video on Facebook, at facebook.com/FoxSportsAberdeen.
