Commissioner Duane Sutton talks about his re-election campaign

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Commissioner Duane Sutton will be seeking his fifth term as a Commissioner for Brown County.  Sutton has been public service as either a commission or a South Dakota legislator for almost thirty years. He appeared on the KSDN Midday Report Thursday to discuss his campaign.

Commissioner Sutton tells us more about himself.

Sutton talks about his priorities for the commission.  His main focus is getting the new regional jail.

Sutton was asked about whether the counties can apply more pressure to the South Dakota Legislature to try to get more funding needed to help avoid bankruptcy.

Sutton did sign the petition to place a referendum to place SB201 that deals with local control on the ballot.  He talks about the importance of local control.

Sutton address the issue of trying to improve relations between the Aberdeen Police Department & the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.  He talks about a meeting that was held earlier this year that address it.

Sutton explain that more meetings will be held on the horizon but believes the best tactics is to do it as executive sessions.

Sutton commented during one of the candidate forum that he would like county elections be run similar to city elections.  He explains why.

Sutton was asked about ways they can help raise funds to help with the infrastructure needs for the Brown County Fairgrounds.  He talks about the newly formed Brown County Fair Foundation.

Sutton was asked to distinguished himself from the other two candidates, Kyler Dinger & Michael Carlsen.
