MILLER, S.D. – Hand County Rancher and South Dakota District 23 Representative JD Wangsness will attend the kick-off event next week for the Farmers& Ranchers Coalition in Washington, D.C. to support the election of President Donald Trump. Featured guests at the event will include former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee GT Thompson, and Chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources Bruce Westerman.

As one of the few full-time producers serving in the South Dakota Legislature and the only full-time producer in House GOP Leadership, Wangsness brings a unique and valuable perspective to the coalition. His attendance to help kick up Trump’s campaign coalition underscores his commitment to advocating for the interests of South Dakota’s farmers and ranchers at the state and national level.

“Agriculture and rural South Dakota values are critical to District 23 and I’m proud to fight for District 23 at the local, state and national level.,” said Wangsness. “President Trump understands the value and needs of agriculture and small-town America. We need to ensure his victory in November. It’s vital that we continue to have strong voices to support policies that benefit our farmers and ranchers, who are the backbone of our state’s economy.”

The Farmers and Ranchers Coalition Reception aims to foster dialogue and collaboration between policymakers and agricultural producers. Wangsness’s participation highlights his dedication to ensuring that South Dakota’s agricultural concerns are heard and addressed.

JD Wangsness is a Republican serving District 23 in the South Dakota Legislature. He is one of the few full-time agricultural producers in the state legislature, bringing firsthand experience and insight into the challenges and opportunities facing South Dakota’s farming and ranching communities. 

The District 23 region is comprised of Campbell, Edmunds, Faulk, Hand, McPherson, Potter and Walworth counties, and parts of Brown County.
