DOLAND, S.D.(KXLG)- Several communities in Beadle and Spink counties will benefit from recently announced by the Beadle and Spink Enterprise Community, or BASEC.
BASEC’s 2024 Community Enhancement Grants were awarded to six organizations and individuals to be used toward making their towns better. BASEC believes that helping rural communities creates pride in where people chose to call home.
Recipients of the 2024 Community Enhancement Grants were:
Greg Drayer, for the installation of a new picnic shelter at the Doland Baseball/Softball Complex.
Doland American Legion Post 69, for the installation of a new picnic shelter at the Doland Baseball/Softball Complex.
Yale Together, to remodel the Yale Community Hall.
City of Tulare, to plant tree andshrubs and update the community room.
Doland Cemetery Association, to purchase and plant trees.
Conde Civic Development Association, to purchase and install an electronic display sign on Main Street.
This is just the second year BASEC has awarded Community Enhancement Grants, but the organization’s Executive Director Emily Rodgers told KLXG News that the program is making a difference.
Started in 1994, BASEC helps open the door to people’s dreams. It provides loans for home ownership, starting a business or starting a livestock herd. In addition to loans, BASEC offers technical assistance and a one-on-one style that helps guide potential recipients through the process.
BASEC is located in Doland.
