Aberdeen City Council deny funding to expand wastewater treatment capacity

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen City Council on Monday night addressed funding needed in order to expand capacity for the wastewater treatment plant.

Public Works Director Stu Nelson said the budget request Rice Lake West in Colorado was about $35 million over budget.

Nelson suggest to decline the bid offered by Rice Lake West.

Nelson believe what needs to be done going forward is to it by sections instead of all at once.

Wastewater Facility Superintendent Amanda Fischer explains to the council that they are at max capacity.

Fischer believes the right tactic is to split into various segments going forward.

The Aberdeen City Council did reject the bid from Rice Lake West on an 8-0 vote.
