Aberdeen, SD (NSUWolves.com) – Northern State University head coach Saul Phillips announced the additions of Noah Baca (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Kaleb Mitchell (Fountain, Colo.) today to the 2024-25 Wolves men’s basketball roster.
Noah Baca – Guard, Colorado Springs, Colo. / Lewis-Palmer HS / UCCS
Noah Baca is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound guard out of Lewis-Palmer High School and the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. As a prep, Baca garnered all-state and all-conference accolades as a senior. He averaged 9.2 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.6 steals per game, while shooting 56.0% from the floor. LPHS won the Colorado State Championship in 2019 after finishing as the State Runner-up in 2017 and 2018. In his time at UCCS, Baca was a 3-time all-academic honoree and averaged 7.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game in 2023-24. He is the son of Pernell and Lisa-Marie Baca.
Phillips’ Thoughts: “Noah is a very talented and experienced player with a high basketball IQ. He’s a versatile player offensively and a lockdown defender. He is a tested, skilled and athletic guard who will give us a veteran presence. He also spaces the floor well and makes those around him better as he passes really well. As a Colorado High School State Champ, he played against Wolves great Sam Masten at the prep level in Colorado and those connections helped him get to Northern State. I can’t wait to add him to our roster.”
Kaleb Mitchell – Center/Forward, Fountain, Colo. / Skyline Prep / Adams State
Kaleb Mitchell is a 6-foot-10, 215-pound center/forward out of Skyline Prep and Adams State. Mitchell played two seasons with the Grizzlies in 2022-23 and 2023-24. He averaged 4.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He is the son of Janell and Ontricio Mitchell.
Phillips’ Thoughts: “Kaleb is a mobile, active big body that I expect to contribute immediately. He has quick bounce off the floor and moves well. His touch around the hoop is very good and he is a rim protector. He has a strong connection with incoming recruit Kwat Abdelkarim, as they played in prep school together in Arizona. The connection between the two helped lead him to Aberdeen. He will add veteran presence strength and length to our roster. He is a great addition to the Wolves.”
Phillips added, “The final roster is ready to go and it’s time for another year of Wolves Basketball. We have put together a group that is skilled, athletic, long and experienced. Point Guard has always been important for me, and I feel we have a great one coming to us in D’Marcus Burks. James Glenn and Kwat Abdulkarim are great shooters with really good ball skills. Guard Noah Baca and Big Kaleb Mitchell are both veterans with a ton of talent. Jake Kuhl is a 7-footer with a lot of potential for growth. We’ve added a few more high potential players and when you combine that with what is coming next, we are counting the days until we can start building.”
The pair joins fellow 2024-25 additions Kwat Abdelkarim (Lincoln, Neb.), James Glenn (Altoona, Iowa), Marley Baah-Yeboah (Lakeville, Minn.), Marcus Burks (Lakeville, Minn.), Jake Kuhl (Hartford, S.D.), Parker Lemer (Aberdeen, S.D.), Maddox Miller (Aberdeen, S.D.), and Braeden Vanbockern (Sioux Falls, S.D.).
