HURON, S.D.(DRGNews)- One of the annual events held during the South Dakota State Fair is a program recognizing farms and ranches in the state that have been in the same family for 100 years or longer.
The South Dakota Farm Bureau and the state Department of Agriculture Ag and Natural Resources will host the Century Farm and Ranch program on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024.
Farm Bureau Executive Director Krystil Smit (not smith. smit) says they’ve honored over 3000 families since the program started 1984.
There are some specific requirements that must be met in order to receive the Century Farm and Ranch designation.
Smit encourages people to stop by the Century Farm and Ranch program to hear some of the stories.
Again, the application deadline is August 1, 2024.
