CODINGTON COUNTY, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Two male juveniles from Aberdeen were apprehended after stealing a vehicle and leading authorities on a chase in Day and Codington Counties.
At 2:22 a.m. on Sunday, July 28, Codington County Sheriff Deputies were advised that two male juveniles had stolen a vehicle in Aberdeen and were being pursued by the Day County Sheriff’s Office.
The pursuit was southbound on Interstate 29 and the juveniles would soon cross into Codington County.
Deputies deployed strike stips and successfully spiked the stolen vehicle, which came to a stop after continuing for a short distance.
The two juveniles then attempted to flee on foot.
Codington County Search and Rescue was contacted and responded to assist in the search for the two male juveniles, who were located and apprehended.
It was discovered the two juveniles were runaways from Aberdeen. They were transported to the Codington County Detention Center and later released to Child Protective Services.
