ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The City Council on Monday dealt with the ordinance dealing with an increase in the BID Tax used to beautify the district.
The original proposal had the rate increase from four cents to eight cents per square foot.
After further discussion the last two weeks, Aberdeen Downtown Association Executive Director, Alexa Sheldon suggested an amendment to the ordinance.
Sheldon believes this compromise will work well for the businesses and for the city.
Mariah Bloom, lawyer respresenting Doeden Investment Group talks about the amendment that was made.
Bloom inform the council that she was not provided all the information needed from the ADA.
The Aberdeen City Council discussed the ordinance.
Among those in support was Councilwoman Tiffany Langer.
One councilman who was opposed to this was Councilman Rob Ronayne who feels the funding should come from the promotion fund instead.
One councilman in disagreement was Councilman David Novstrup.

The Aberdeen City Council voted in favor of the ordinance on an 8-1 vote on the first reading. The second reading of this will be on Monday, August 19th.
