PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The City of Pierre and Hughes County are together, but separately working through the process of changing their respective ordinances to mimic a change in state law regarding when campaign signage can be posted in city limits and the extraterritorial area of both Pierre and Hughes County. City Planner Emeline Post says the changes come from House Bill 1069, approved by this year’s Legislature,
Commissioner Jamie Huizenga says he things Pierre may have been the catalyst for the change,
Post says the change to the extraterritorial ordinance is being made for consistency.
Public hearings and second readings for both changes are set for a joint city/county meeting on August 19th and city commission meeting August 20th.
