Candidates for Districts 1 & 3 address Referred Law 21

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota Farmers Union hosted a candidate forum at the Brown County Fair Saturday.  Candidates representing South Dakota District 1 & 3 House attended.  Among the topics discussed was their stance on Referred Law 21 better know as the Landowner’s Bill of Right bill.

All the candidates declared that they will opposed this when it goes to the vote by the people in November.  Each candidate explains why.

District 1:

Steven McCleerey(D) who is opposed still wants to see where the voters do stand on this topic.

Chris Reder(R) who spoke against the bill during this year’s legislative session talks about how no counties are alike.

Logan Manhart(R) discuss how the bill override over a hundred years of history involving local control.

Mark Sumption(D) concur what everyone on the panel was saying.

District 3:

Representative Brandei Schaefbauer(R) discuss how the bill can be overturned by the next legislative session in 2025.

Senator Al Novstrup(R) who is running for the House seat discuss how the bill could impact the CO2 pipeline Summit Carbon Solutions is pushing for.

Erin Rudner(D) discuss how leadership in the South Dakota Legislature has failed to properly address this issue.

Voters will chance to weigh in on this in the November elections.
