ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Brown County Commission at Tuesday’s meeting talked about public defender office contract.

Brown County Commissioner Duane Sutton talks about how this came about.

Sutton hope to establish the office by January 2026.  That means they needed to make their through 2025.

Sutton talks about who will be working at the public defender’s office beginning in 2026.

Sutton suggested to place a budget of around $650,000 for 2025.

The commissioners approved the one year contract for the Indigent Council on a 5-0 vote.

Sutton looking for more feedback from the public about the program.

Commissoners also address salaries for the State Attorney’s office.  Commissioner Duane Sutton:

Projected State’s Attorney Office budget is estimated at just under 1.5 million dollars.

County Commission will have a resolution addressing next year’s budget on Tuesday, September 24th.
