Sioux Falls, SD (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State University cross country teams opened their 2024 campaigns on Friday at the annual Augustana Twilight. The Wolves women kicked off the evening taking tenth in the 5k with an average time of 19:33. The men’s team also recorded a tenth place finish with an average time of 19:55 in the 4-mile run.
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Nathan Alto led the men, sliding into the top-25 with a time of 19:09.46 in 24th overall
- Jacob Angerhofer, Jonathan Burkhalter, and Evan Halbe followed crossing the finish line at 19:47.20, 19:48.91, and 20:22.35 respectively
- David VanVeen and Taylor Thorson added times of 20:31.27 and 20:43.55, while Bailen Hayford finished in 20:47.07
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman Emaleigh Olesiak and transfer Abby Hasart led the charge for the women placing in the top-50
- Olesiak recorded a time of 18:46.18, followed by Hasart crossing the line at 18:47.24
- Summer Carlson and Alli Jackson followed with times of 19:47.69 and 20:00.27 respectively
- Payton Kemnitz and Adisen Stadem rounded out the competing six for NSU with times of 20:26.62 and 20:43.85
