South Dakota Ballot Question pamphlets available to help voters find unbiased information

PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- There are seven ballot measures on South Dakota’s Nov. 5, 2024, general election ballot and at least half of them have some sort of verbiage disagreement between the proponents and the opponents. The result puts voters in the middle trying to sort through messages that spin one way or another to find information from an unbiased party.

Secretary of State Monae (mo-nay) Johnson says the Attorney General’s Office provides a neutral explanation for each of the ballot measures under the “2024 Ballot Questions” option at sdsos.gov.

Johnson says the 2024 Ballot Questions pamphlet also includes information supplied by supporters and by those opposed.

Johnson says the only thing the Secretary of State’s Office does with the information received is compile it.

Johnson encourages all voters to use the Voter Information Portal at sdsos.gov to see your sample ballot– which you can take with you when you go vote. Additionally, she says the Attorney General’s explanations are printed on the sample ballots that are currently available, as well as being printed on the actual ballots people use to vote. The information from the opponents and proponents is not printed on the actual ballots.
