Recap of U.S. House Debate held in Sioux Falls Tuesday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Tuesday, SDPB hosted the only scheduled debate between the two candidates for the U.S. House seat representing the State of South Dakota.  The candidates are the incumbent Representative Dusty Johnson(R) and challenger Sheryl Johnson(D).

Inflation:

Congressman Johnson explains that the reason for inflation the last four years is because of excess govenment spending.

Sheryl Johnson believes this is cause by corporations price gouging.

Federal Deficit:

Sheryl Johnson discuss deficits by the President Trump tax cuts caused in 2017.

Congressman Johnson looks to clarify what the Trump tax cuts did.

Current corporate tax is 21%.  Sheryl would like to see that be around 30%.

Immigration:

Congressman Johnson discuss the issue with the Southern Border during the Biden/Harris administration.

Sheryl Johnson look to clarify statements made by Congressman Johnson.

Native American Issues:

Congressman Johnson discuss what he was able to accomplish to help address law enforcement on tribal lands.

Abortion:

Both candidates addressed Amendment G which is on the ballot for South Dakotans will be voting on in November.

Congressman Johnson believes gun violence is an issue of mental health than is about guns.

Packing the Supreme Court:

Each candidate discuss their views on that.  Congressman Johnson believes the Supreme Court should only have nine justices and no more.

Sheryl Johnson believes the courts should be expanded to thirteen but should be done following each presidential election and not all at once.
