GOAC motion to subpoena Department of Revenue

PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The Government Operations and Audit Committee of the South Dakota legislature heard from the Department of Revenue this week on what actions its taken in the Motor Vehicle Division following investigations by the South Dakota Attorney Generals Office.

That’s Revenue Department Secretary Michael Houdyshell.  After a nearly hour-long executive session. Senator David Wheeler emerged with a motion to subpoena Houdyshell and other Revenue Department staffers.

Senator Dean Wink doesn’t like the idea of of jumping the legal system.

The subpoena request will have to go before the Legislature’s Executive Board for further approval.  The vote to approve the subpoena was seven to two.
