Aberdeen City Council address ordinance dealing with the Strode Center and Aberdeen Dome

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Monday night, the Aberdeen City Council did a second reading on an ordinance dealing with rezoning the Strode Center and the Aberdeen Dome.

Community Development Director Ken Hubbart explains what the ordinance does.

Aberdeen Mayor Travis Schnaunaman asked Hubbart to clarify if the dorms used by former Presentation College students are a part of this.

Aberdeen resident Paul Hopkins, who lives near the area express concerns about the potential future of the region.

Aberdeen City Attorney Ron Wager(Wag-er) responded to that.

Hopkins offer up a suggesstion to what can be done with that region for future city councils.

Councilwoman Tiffany Langer compare this to the process they’re working on for the new Public Works building.

The council voted seven to one to approve the rezoning with Councilwoman Langer the only opposing the ordinance.
